Kickstart Scheme

Kickstart Scheme

The new government Kickstart Scheme has launched, creating 6-month high quality work placements aimed at young people (aged 16 to 24) who are on Universal Credit and are deemed to be at risk of long term unemployment.
Funding is available for each job to cover 100% of the relevant National Minimum Wage for 25 hours a week, plus the associated employer National Insurance contributions and employer minimum automatic enrolment contributions. There is also £1,500 per job placement available for setup costs, support and training. Find out more here.

The Chamber is an approved Gateway  representative for organisations wishing to apply. The Chamber invites businesses to complete the form below as an expression of interest in this scheme. Once received we will forward further details of the requirements.

Why use a Gateway?

Our gateway is offering more than just a route into the scheme. Our experience enables us to answer questions quickly and provide additional resources and advice.  We can also facilitate access to training, providing local connections and managing the application process.  All at no change to the employer.

Kickstart Employer Feedback:

“I’m amazed to see that there have been a good number of well qualified candidates with enthusiasm to our placement descriptions. My business will benefit from the scheme, and hope the young people can gain a lot too”  Lawrence Liao – Oakhouse Software Ltd
